ESSEX COUNTY CONNECTIVITY INITIATIVE

We all have differing capacities, interests, knowledge, and perspectives, but when we work together, it all adds up.

Branches of Purpose

  • Connecting us as neighbours in Essex County to one another to build our ‘Environmental Community’

  • Connecting the Environmental Community to upcoming events, opportunities, resources, and other local groups and clubs to get involved, collaborate and stay informed

  • Connecting nature to nature

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I intentionally and gratefully acknowledge that this Land I call home is within the Traditional Territories of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, which includes the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Peoples, as well as the Huron-Wendat Peoples.

I honour their enduring and reciprocal connection to the Land, Water, Sky, Creatures, and the Knowledge and stewardship that guide these relationships. With reflection on both historical and current relationships with First Nations and the land, I approach this acknowledgment with an open heart and a sincere commitment to reconciliation. I strive to move forward in a better way through collaboration, respect, and peace. I am on this journey to learn and grow.

RECONCILI-ACTION Honour, support, and amplify Indigenous voices, Knowledge, authors, musicians, artists, teachers, and initiatives.

Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action

“We depend on and require the natural environment and all its inhabitants to thrive and work symbiotically so that we, too, can continue to thrive. Conservation and cohabitation are essential, and we must work diligently to halt and reverse the historical loss, de-prioritization, and dismissal of our natural spaces and their tremendous importance and contributions. These efforts benefit us, all species, and the atmosphere we share as neighbours. Humans cannot replace or recreate nature’s complexities and achievements once they are diminished; we can only strive to steward and foster such ecosystems.”
